Behind The Scenes: Working With A Designer

Hiring a website designer can be a big investment and time commitment. Financially and strategically you want to be sure it’s the right time for both you and your business. If you’re anything like me, you want the details and what to expect before committing. Your designer will be doing a lot of the work, but as with anything, you get out what you put in. So, before committing to a rebrand or a new website, keep in mind that you will be involved in the process as well.

To give you an idea of what to expect, here is a look at my process:

1. Consultation Call

We meet on Zoom for 30 minutes to talk all about your business. What’s working, what can improve, your goals and vision. Together, we’ll decide if a new visual brand and strategic website will help you reach those goals.

2. Booking

After our call, if we decide we’re a great fit, we book your project! I guide you through my simple onboarding process and set you up in my project management system. I typically book projects at least 2-4 weeks in advance, which gives you plenty of time to get through your brand homework before we start. I’ll help you gather everything you need before our project begins to make sure the process is as smooth and easy as possible.

3. Design

The fun begins! Through your entire project you’ll easily see my progress and always know which stage we’re in. We’ll communicate regularly and you’ll always be up to date with what to expect next. During the design stage, you’ll be responsible for providing feedback and doing your part to meet deadlines as well. #Teamwork makes the dream work.

4. Launch

As your project wraps up, I give you guidance for how to use your new brand and website. You’ll get a style guide including all of the visual components of your new brand. I’ll also walk you through your new website and provide post-launch support as you’re getting used to using your new site.

5. Additional support

After we’ve celebrated the launch of your new brand and website, you might realize there’s more pieces you need. I’ll be here to help. I give you all of the tools you need to apply your new brand to past and future marketing materials. Or, if you’d rather pass them off, you can hire me to take care of these extras for you. I work with a select amount of past clients on a retainer or as-needed basis as new projects come up. At the end of your project, this is something we can discuss and see if it makes sense for you!
